The Cámara Nacional de Turismo de Costa Rica (CANATUR) was founded in 1974 as a non profit organization, and it envolves the highest ranking of the chambers and associations of private tourist company in the country, whose members represent the national tourism industry.
The IMN is under the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), is a scientific body which is responsible for the coordination of all meteorological activities in the country.
It maintains a systematic monitoring of the weather to support the safety of air navigation in the country and for the prevention of hydrometeorological disasters.
